My period was due the 19th but was late. On the 21st I had sex and the condom broke. Later that night I started my period. My periods are always very heavy and ALWAYS last for a min. of 6 days. Well my period has stopped and it is only the 23rd. Im worried that I could be pregnant because my period has stopped. Please help |

Hi LeAnn, Use this site to investigate WHEN having sex can cause pregnancy. Having sex after/around when your period is due will not result in pregnancy. It is precisely 2 weeks after the START of your last period that is your fertile time. I am concerned you may already be pregnant if you had sex around the 5th of the month (roughly your fertile time if period due on the 19th), and the bleeding you experienced was simply due to the sexual activity. The quality of the blood should give you a clue to this...was it bright red/new blood or old/clotty menstrual blood? How old are you, LeAnn? For the first 15yrs of my periods, they always stopped for a day or two and resumed after that for the last few days of the period. The best way to avoid becoming pregnant is using a condom (as you did) and AVOIDING SEX DURING THE FERTILE TIME OF THE MONTH (14DAYS AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR LAST PERIOD for those with a 28day cycle, is the most fertile time, so avoid sex for the few days either side of that date). Please go and get a home preg test to rule out pregnancy and give you the best chance of exploring your options if you are indeed pregnant. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you. |
