why is the comic not sold free ??? atleast the online copy can be!!! moreover 500 is a lot to ask from people who cannot afford a day's meal... but i think they do need the awareness!! |

Hi, Spreading awareness of any type or for that matter doing any social good costs money and time. Therefore to sustain an endeavor of social relevance (or not) an organization or individual must generate revenues through some means. Govt organizations mostly run on taxes, NGOs and non profits run on donations and grants and then there are for profit organizations (Menstrupedia being one) that runs on revenues generated from sale of its products or services. The reason we specifically chose to be for-profit is because it is not only a strategy to sustain and grow Menstrupedia, but also as a model it holds Menstrupedia accountable for the quality of its product. You can see the difference by comparing Menstrupedia comic with the educational materials developed by NGOs and Government agencies. We are generating revenues from the urban market and using it to make the book affordable for rural and urban poor because awareness is needed everywhere. Hope this answers your question :). |
